what i’m writing for nanowrimo // beautiful books

I am linking up with Cait and Sky’s Beautiful Books link – up to bring to you a basic introduction of the novel I have cooking for Nanowrimo 2016.

You can read all about Nanowrimo on their website, here and all about Beautiful Books here. If you’d like to ‘friend’ me go here and please do!! Writing is such a solitary job I need all the hugs, food and encouragement I can get!

what are you? // top 10 tuesday

Do you still write?

Why yes, yes I do. Do you still breathe?

I’ve been writing them since I was 10 years old, after reading as obsessively and continuously as I did, it seemed like the logical next step.

Because that’s how it usually happens, no?

You read and you read until that insatiable hunger leads you to try and put your own words down there in the quagmire of multitudes.

Perhaps, untold stories exist within us all, but only a seasoned reader knows how to pry them out from under her skin and set them loose in the wild.

5 Year Blogoversary

So WordPress informs me I made this blog five years ago, today?

If you will congratulate me, I will be most grateful and feed you chocolate chip cookies, those large dinner-plate-sized ones!

If you are one of the teeny contingent of followers I have, thank you so much for sticking around when you know that I know that I have no idea what I’m talking about. ❤

Once again I’m joining Cait @ Paperfury and Sky @ Further Up and Further In for their wonderful link up Beautiful People <- If you click there, you can read more and also link using the snazzy little button they’ve provided.

How about Malik? For the last two link ups, I wrote about the other two of my three main characters; Ruka and Nadim, so it’s only right the poor Prince gets his turn in the limelight.

Quick background blurb: Malik ibn Mashood is the Crown Prince of Silahn and the titular Sleeping Prince. He’s your gender-bent damsel-in-distress if you will, but if you’re expecting him to stay in a coma the whole book and get paid, you are dead wrong.

#writerslife // tag

So once again, I was tagged by no one, but I saw this tag on The Quiet People and felt a dying urge to do it.

I dunno if the people I tag are writers, but you don’t have to be working on a bran spanking 19 books in a series and another 345 after the end shorties to be one. If you look at it this way, all readers are writers. It’s inevitable.

Once again I am linking up with this wonderful writing aid known as Beautiful People for Writers together with Cait and Sky. Thanks for this you guys, every time I get to know my characters a little better!

The gist

It’s aimed at writers so they can answer the questions about their characters and their books. It’s designed to help you get to know your book better! (And also give your followers a sneak peek of your works-in-progresses.) for more information, go to Cait’s blog Paperfury.

So for the first time ever, I’m joining this tag Beautiful People which I stumbled upon browsing through Pineapple Queen Cait’s blog. I feel like it’s a good way to get to know my protagonist in my WIP especially since I seem to be well attuned to the boys but have a hard time making her talk about herself to me.

This WIP is still very much a WIP as in sometimes, I have no idea what it’s going to end up being. But for now I can safely say it’s tentatively titled The Sleeping Prince and is a gender-bent Sleeping Beauty.

Without further ado;

1. What first inspired this character? Is there a person/actor you based them off?

Um… Actually she’s a very organic character rather like how I was as a child, before the disillusionism (it’s a word no?) of adulthood kind of nipped me in the derriere. So you could say she’s based on me, but not really. I wanted a female character, I started creating an outline and out she popped.
